It would take some incredible results for Luton Town to avoid an immediate return to the Championship. They are 18th in the table and host Fulham who are 14th in the Premier League. With just this match remaining, the Hatters are three points from safety. The problem is their goal difference is -12 worse than that of 17th-placed Nottingham Forest, who travel to relegated Burnley this weekend. 81 league goals have been conceded by Luton this season. Six of their last league games have been lost and only five league points have been earned from as many league fixtures at Kenilworth Road. Their only recent home league win was against Bournemouth, but they’ve failed to build on that. They lost 5-1 to Brentford and then only drew 1-1 with Everton. Just one of their last 17 games have seen both teams not get on the scoresheet.

Fulham have again had another season in which they have had few relegation worries. They are 14th in the table but coil finish as high as 12th if they win this final fixture. They’d need both Crystal Palace and Wolves to lose their final games. Fulham will at least finish 14th though and at least 15 points above the bottom three. They had been in with the chance of a higher finish but have gone four league games without a win. Last weekend saw them lose 4-0 at home to Manchester City. The Cottagers haven’t scored in their last two league games but will fancy their chances of scoring against Luton. Only three away league games have been won this season.
