LA Galaxy will be hoping to get their MLS season back on track this weekend when they play host to the San Jose Earthquakes on Sunday. The hosts have gotten off to a very poor start this season and come into this one second-from-bottom in the Western Conference with just six points after 10 matches, level with Sporting KC at the foot of the table. LA Galaxy suffered a 3-1 defeat in their last match against Colorado Rapids, which was their fifth loss in their last six matches, with a solitary win against Austin. At home this season, LA Galaxy have managed just one win in their first five matches, along with a draw, and three losses, scoring seven and conceding nine in that period. The last time these sides met, LA Galaxy won an entertaining match 3-2 and will be hoping for a similar sort of result to get their confidence up and push on for the season. 

The SJ Earthquakes, on the other hand, have made a promising start to the MLS season and are currently fourth in the Western Conference standings. The visitors are on 18 points after 11 matches and are just two points behind the Seattle Souders at the top of the table. St Louis, in second place, have a game in hand, and LAFC, in third place, have played two games less. Following an impressive 2-1 win over LAFC last week, the host's record over the last six matches reads as three wins, two draws, and one loss. Their away record of late has been very poor, failing to win any of their first five matches on the road this season and their final seven last season, bringing their tally to 12 matches since their last away win. However, the last time that the SJ Earthquakes did manage an away win was at this venue in the first half of last season.
