A 3-1 loss to Brentford in their last league outing wasn’t the best way to start the new year for Liverpool and this, they will hope is well addressed when they go into their FA Cup third round clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Liverpool aren’t having a very good run in the season and the Brentford defeat was their second in four matches. They have three wins in five matches though. Each of their last five matches has had over 2.5 goals and they’ve scored in each of their last five matches. Liverpool have conceded two or more goals in two of the last four matches but have scored two or more in four of the last five matches. At home, they’ve lost only once in the last five matches and they are unbeaten in seven matches against Wolves.

Wolves have lost each of the last seven matches against Liverpool and they don’t go into this game on a very strong run. They haven't won in their last two matches, their most recent outing ending 1-1 with Aston Villa. Wolves scored first and seemed to be heading to a crucial win in that league game after Daniel Podence’s early opener, but Danny Ings pulled one back late on to see the spoils shared. Twice in their last five matches, Wolves have failed to score and away from home, both sides have scored in all of Wolves’ last four matches. Their winning run away from home isn’t great though, with just one in the nine played this season.
