Liverpool would be keen to overtake Tottenham Hotspurs and maintain slim hopes of qualifying in the top-four when the sides meet in the Premier League at Anfield on Sunday. The hosts are 7th and seven points adrift of top-four spots ahead of this weekend while the visitors are 5th with only a point above Liverpool. The hosts also have the advantage of a game in hand over Tottenham, so a win here will take them above Tottenham and put them in prime position to finish in the top-six spots. Coach Jurgen Klopp categorically deflected any thoughts of a top-four race especially with the gap looking too steep at the moment. Liverpool can do their bit by continuing to win, as they come on the back of three straight wins over Leeds, Nottingham Forest and West Ham. Even otherwise, the Reds have been pretty consistent at home and are unbeaten in eight Premier League matches at Anfield winning six and drawing two. Liverpool are also unbeaten against Tottenham in ten Premier League matches winning seven and drawing three.

That record itself is unsettling for the visitors, who have won just two of their last 35 league matches against Liverpool, losing 23, with the last win coming in 2011. Under interim manager Ryan Mason, they have snatched a point against Manchester United in the 2-2 midweek draw. That was more a meltdown from the Red Devils than an exhibition of skill from the Spurs, although they would take that any day. That point halted a two-game losing run in the league while their away form is worse. Spurs haven’t won away from home in the Premier League for five matches, losing three and drawing two.
