The pressure has been mounting on Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers and every time his side fails to win it gets increased. A poor performance against Carlisle in the Capital One Cup had fans and journalists after his blood but a 3-2 win over Aston Villa on Saturday relieved the pressure a bit until the next bad result. Liverpool began their Europa League group with a 1-1 draw at Bordeaux. It'll be interesting to see what kind of side they put out for this game. Several first team regulars didn't travel to France for the Bordeaux game and with a Merseyside derby on Sunday another weakened side looks likely here. Sion beat Rubin Kazan 2-1 at home in their opening fixture with two goals from Konate sealing the win. Their recent league form isn't impressive though with successive defeats at home to Vaduz and at Grasshoppers. They lie fifth in the table 13 points behind the league leaders and have lost four of their ten games with their only away win being against Thun who are one from bottom in the league. Their European record is a poor one and their best performance was a Cup Winners Cup quarter final 28 years ago. Liverpool have strength in depth and should be able to get a home win here.
