These two bitter rivals should have a cracker of a Europa League last sixteen tie. Both are struggling to qualify for the Champions League next season and winning this trophy is probably their best chance. Neither are going to win any awards for consistency though and anything could happen over these two legs. Liverpool are seventh in the Premier League and have won both their games since the loss to Manchester City on penalties in the Capital One Cup Final. Penalty shoot-outs excluded they are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions. Last week they beat Manchester City 3-0 at home and in December beat Leicester at Anfield. They have lost twice to Manchester United this season including a 1-0 loss at Anfield in a game they didn't deserve to lose. Manchester United have also had some decent form recently but they do keep suffering poor defeats. Losses at Midtjylland, Sunderland and WBA show their often fragile away form that has cost them dearly this season. I think that might be the case again here and Liverpool can take a narrow lead to Old Trafford for the second leg.
