Liverpool vs Leicester Prediction & Betting Tips - Carabao Cup
by Daniel Ngulu in Carabao Cup Predictions
The most successful team in the League Cup, Liverpool will begin the quest for another title when they host Leicester City. This third round meeting finds both sides on the back of wins in their respective leagues. Hosts Liverpool triumphed 3-1 over West Ham United over the weekend. Goals from Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota eliminated the scare caused by Jarrod Bowen’s equalizer after Mo Salah’s opening goal. Perhaps the only worry Liverpool will carry to this game is the fact they haven't kept many clean sheets. In their last seven matches, Liverpool have managed just one clean sheet. In their last 18 competitive matches, Liverpool haven't lost. Their last defeat was in April, against Manchester City. It was also City who ended their hopes for a 10th League Cup last season in a 3-2 round of 16 defeat.
For Leicester City, Liverpool is a familiar foe; the two sides met towards the end of last season. That Premier League clash ended in a 3-0 defeat for Leicester City, towards their relegation. However, Leicester City come into this game in a good position. They beat Bristol City 1-0 for their third clean sheet in five matches. Leicester come into this match with three straight wins in the Championship and are promotion contenders. It is clear though that in this game they will be facing a much stronger opponent. As it stands in the second tier, Leicester City are top of the standings, and have only lost once this season. Leicester City played in the previous two rounds of this competition, beating Burton Albion and Tranmere Rovers. Leicester are coming from a 1-0 win over Bristol City. they will hope to avenge their loss on post match penalties in the 2021/22 quarterfinal against Liverpool
