Liverpool come into this game with Burnley on the back of just their second defeat of the season at Arsenal last weekend. It wasn't enough to knock the Reds from top spot in the Premier League, but if Manchester City were to beat Everton in the earlier game today, then the Reds would be knocked off the top by the time this game kicks off. Those two factors alone should be enough incentive for Jurgen Klopp's team to go for the jugular here against a Burnley side that are in very poor form at the moment and struggling at the bottom of the table. With Mo Salah nearing full fitness, but likely not to be ready for this game, the scoring onus will once again fall on Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez as the Reds will seek the win that will keep them top of the table this weekend.

Vincent Kompany's Burnley have not won in six games and they have managed just one win in their last 10 games. They also will remember that they were beaten by Liverpool 2-0 at Turf Moor on Boxing Day. Last weekend, they did pick up a 2-2 draw with Fulham at home, David Fofana scoring twice late on to rescue a point for the home side. However, that point leaves them seven points behind Luton Town in 17th and with a much worse goal difference (-23 compared to -10) than the Hatters. The Lancastrian side have won at Anfield as recently as 2021, ending a long run of undefeated home performances from Liverpool, but the chances of them repeating that unlikely success on Saturday appear to be slim.
