Liverpool - Brentford: Form Analysis
Liverpool are coming off a 3-2 loss away to Toulouse in the Europa League. Thursday’s defeat ended their 100% record in the competition but they still remain top of their group. Jurgen Klopp’s men are witnessing a dip in form at the moment and haven’t won in two matches. The loss to Toulouse came after a 1-1 draw with Luton last time out in the league. But as they are back home for this round, the Reds will be confident of a win. Liverpool have won all eight matches they have played at Anfield this season across all competitions. Another victory there could send them up to second in the table depending on other results. Liverpool have won the two most recent matches they have had Bretford as visitors.
Brentford are seeing an upturn in fortunes and arrive for this match having won their last three games. All three victories have come in the league and this has allowed them to move up to 16 points after 11 games. Thomas Frank’s men have pulled themselves further away from the relegation zone and now have their sights on the top five. They sit six points adrift of the European places. The Bees have scored eight goals in this three-game winning run and have kept two clean sheets. Brentford won a five-goal thriller against West Ham last time out.

Liverpool & Brentford Squad Analysis
Liverpool missed the services of captain Virgil van Dijk against Toulouse due to illness. The defender is however set to be available for Brentford’s visit. Midfielder Ryan Gravenberch is however doubtful due to a knee injury. The Reds will however for sure be without Alexis MacAllister as the midfielder is suspended for this match. Mohammed Salah scored the winner the last time Brentford were in town. He has again been the go-to guy up front for Liverpool and has so far scored 12 goals, eight in the league. Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz are others to look out for here.
Brentford have been blighted by injury this season. Aaron Hickey is the latest to go into the club’s treatment room and is expected to be out for the remainder of 2023. This is due to a thigh injury suffered in the win over Chelsea two weeks ago. Goalkeeper Mark Flekken is however expected to be back after his withdrawal against West Ham last time out. Yoane Wissa has scored twice against Liverpool as a Brentford player. This season he has already scored four times. Together with Bryan Mbeumo and Mathias Jensen the three are the only players to have scored multiple league goals for Brentford this season. Mbeumo has scored six times thus far and should be the main catalyst here.
