Liverpool will look to consolidate their fifth spot in the Premier League when they play a tricky Brentford side, outside the European spots, this weekend. The hosts are 5th ahead of this round with 59 points, four points behind fourth and five points ahead of sixth-placed Tottenham. The visitors are 9th and are four points behind top-six. Liverpool seem to have picked up form in the recent matches and have gone unbeaten in seven league matches coming into this. That included winning five in a row after a tight 1-0 win over Fulham during the midweek. The Reds are practically out of reckoning for a top-four finish unless Manchester United have a monumental collapse of form, so finishing fifth is what they are targeting. Jurgen Klopp’s men would be happy to stay at home as Anfield has seen five wins across their last six home league matches.

Brentford were once a contender to finish in the top-six but those hopes were dashed out by a winless run of six matches between mid-March and mid-April. Yet, they have got back on track with two wins in a row after beating Chelsea 2-0 and Nottingham Forest 2-1. This has given them an outside chance of making a late dash at top-six especially with Tottenham in poor form. That would need them to revive their away fortunes and trouble the Reds here. Brentford have won against Chelsea in their last away match but have picked up only one point in three matches prior, losing without scoring at Manchester United and Wolverhampton.
