Liverpool will this Saturday host Bournemouth, both teams seeking first wins in the Premier League this season. Bournemouth arrive for the match 10th in the standings, two places above Liverpool. Liverpool began the campaign with a 1-1 draw away to Chelsea. They will hope to hold on for a win here to avoid being left behind by the leading pack. Jurgen Klopp’s charges have won seven of the last eight matches against Bournemouth. In this dominant run, Liverpool thrashed Bournemouth 9-0 in the corresponding fixture last season. They will hope this unsettles Bournemouth’s preparations and allow them to get back to winning ways. The Reds have struggled since the tail end of last season. They have won just three of their last eight matches. A positive note though is that they have been difficult to defeat and have lost only once. This was a 4-3 defeat inflicted by Bayern Munich in preseason.

Bournemouth got a measure of revenge in their second league meeting with Liverpool last season. They won 1-0 at home and will hope for a similar outcome as they also seek to get back to winning ways. Andoni Iraola’s charges drew 1-1 at home with West Ham in their season opener. Dominik Solanke scored eight minutes to time, to secure the point. The Cherries are now unbeaten in their last two outings after they ended pre-season with a 2-0 win over French side Lorient. Before that win, Bournemouth had gone on a slump, losing six of their seven matches up until that point. Four of those defeats came in successive league matches to close out last season. Bournemouth have won three of their last five away league matches. This should have them confident of coming away with a positive result here.
