Levante finished 15th in La Liga last season, a comfortable 17 points above the relegation zone. Their main claim to fame was being the only team to beat Barcelona in La Liga last season beating the league champions 5-4 at home. They were in danger of relegation for a fair while last season but had a strong ending to the season with only two defeats in their last 12 league games losing to Atletico Madrid and at Celta Vigo, their opponents in this game.  Home form saw them win seven league games last season and at one stage they went ten without a win before ending the season with five wins in a row  They got the new season off to a strong start with a 3-0 win at Real Betis with two goals by Jose Luis Morales.

Their opponents finished two places above Levante last season earning just three more points than Levante. Their away form was a big problem last season with 12 defeats on the road. They didn't win any of their last eight away league games and conceded ten goals in the last two. Pre-season didn't go too well for them either and they opened their season with a 1-1 home draw with Espanyol needng a David Lopez own goal to get the point. Celta Vigo have one win in their last 13 games and although that was the 4-2 win over Levante, that was at home. Levante are in much better form now and can get their second win of the season.
