Lens have emerged as the biggest challengers to PSG for the Ligue 1 title and they will be looking to close in when they host Reims in their ninth league match of the season. The hosts are on 15 points, in second place, while Reims have 10 points, in 11th place. Lens returned to winning ways in the last game, beating Marseille 3-2 to recover from a 1-0 loss inflicted by Strasbourg in their last home game. The loss to Strasbourg remains the only time they’ve failed to score this season and it is also their only defeat in the campaign this far. They have scored two or more goals in five of their eight matches but have just two clean sheets in that run. An improvement is also needed at home, Lens having managed just one win in their four home games this season. Last season they drew both games with Reims, 1-1 and 4-4.

Reims are also back to winning ways; they go to this game having thumped Nantes 3-1 and just like Lens, they need to tighten up at the back, having kept just two clean sheets in the last five matches. Much of the points they’ve dropped this season can be attributed to a leaky defence – they have managed just two wins in the eight league matches this season. The visitors have scored two or more goals in just three of their eight league matches, and failed to score completely in three of the eight games. Away from home, they have just one win in their four league matches this season, a 2-0 victory over Rennes. Five of Reims’ eight league matches have produced under 2.5 goals.
