Both Leipzig and Salzburg suffered elimination in the latter stages of last season's Europa League and as they head to this one, they will be keen to go all the way. They lost to Marseille at the quarter final and semi final stages respectively. Heading to this match, Salzburg will feel they don't belong here, having lost on the away goals rule to Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League qualifiers after a barren draw away from home and a 2 - 2 draw at home. As for Leipzig, this is a chance at redemption, after their dismal showing coming on the back of a very promising first season in the German Bundesliga and hosting Salzburg presents the best chance to show their credentials in a groul that also has Celtic and Norwegian side Rosenborg. Leipzig on their part, have not been very strong starters to the season back at home; they have one win in the opening three games and have not looked as strong as they were in the past seasons, having suffered a 1-4 loss to Borussia Dortmund already and struggled to get past Zorya in the Europa League qualifiers. They have no clean sheet in the last four matches but in the Europa League, they have gone unbeaten in six matches, though they have three draws therein and just two clean sheets.
