Leipzig have slim hopes of winning the Bundesliga title and when they host Hoffenheim on Friday, their focus will be fixed on winning to close in on Bayern Munich who play later on. The hosts are on 60 points, in second place and take on 12th placed Hoffenheim who have 31 points. After Bayern’s draw with Union Berlin in their last game, Leipzig must be plotting a late charge for the title in the remaining six matches, being just five points behind. A brace from Alexander Sørloth added to Dani Olmo and Marcel Sabitzer’s goals to hand Leipzig a 4-1 win over Werder Bremen in their last game. It was their third win in the last five league matches, where they also have two clean sheets. Their last match at home ended in a 1-0 loss to Bayern Munich but they should have the quality to deal with Hoffenheim, especially after their solid home run. In the last six home league matches, Leipzig have registered four wins and one loss. However, they have no clean sheet in the last four Bundesliga matches and four of six have ended in under 2.5 goals.

Hoffenheim are just five points above the relegation playoff, which means this is a key game to them just as it is for Leipzig. They are coming from a 0-0 draw with Bayer Leverkusen, just their second clean sheet in the last 10 league matches. No team in the top 13 has conceded more than Hoffenheim (47) and it will be tough for them facing this attacking Leipzig side. They’ve lost three of the last four matches and failed to score in two.
