Lepizig have had an eventful season in European competition and will be wanting more of the same next term. They take a slender 1-0 lead to Marseille in the second leg of their Europa League quarter final but before that have a vital game at home to Bayer Leverkusen. The top four in the Bundesliga qualify for the Champions League and going into this game, Leipzig fill fourth place but only a point and a place ahead of their opponents in this game Bayer Leverkusen. They have won their last two league games and that includes a 2-1 home win over leaders Bayern Munich and 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund. Home form this season has seen them win eight, draw four and lose two, the most recent defeat being to relegation threatened FC Koln in February. Away form isn't so hot with just five wins so they need as many points as they can at home to get them that top four finish.

Their opponents have won six of their 14 away league games but lost the last one 2-0 at FC Koln who are one from bottom in the table. That was followed by a 0-0 home draw with Augsburg and they can't keep dropping points as they are only three ahead of seventh placed Hoffenheim. A good run-in could get them a Champions League place but their current form could see them out of Europe altogether. They have had two recent away wins but against the sides 15th and bottom of the table so this trip to Leipzig is a bit of a step-up on recent encounters.  This should be a hard-fought game but Leipzig have the better current form and can get the three points.
