Leipzig have the chance to rise to at least second place when they host Augsburg in Bundesliga Match Day 4. At fourth spot, Leipzig have six points, four more than 12th placed Augsburg. Ahead of the international break, Leipzig beat Union Berlin 3-0. That win came after coming from behind to thrash Stuttgart 5-1. They opened their season in style, with a 3-0 win over Bayern Munich in the Super Cup. Their race was only slowed down by the loss to Leverkusen. In their four matches so far, they haven’t scored less than two goals in any. All of Leipzig’s four matches have so far had over 2.5 goals and both teams scored in two of them. They’ve scored 13 times in those four matches, thus bringing a solid scoring run here.

Augsburg will not bring to this game really fond memories, yet they remain desperate for their first win of the season. In their opening four matches of the campaign, three in Bundesliga, Augsburg have two losses and as many draws. They’ve conceded at least twice in each of their four matches, which casts a doubt on their defensive solidity. A shock early elimination from the DFB Pokal rolled off a disappointing start to their season. They were beaten 2-0 by third tier side, Unterhaching.
