Leicester welcomes Newport County to the King Power Stadium for this third round match in the League Cup. The home side continued their recent resurgence when they beat Everton 2-0 in their last match. Leicester were rock bottom in the Premier league after the opening few rounds but have bounced back with three wins in their last four matches. They will be hoping their league form can be translated into this competition. Leicester faced another League Two team in the second round and needed penalties to win. They will be hoping for an easier match as they are playing in front of their home fans. Leicester have only lost once in their last five matches which was a tight 1-0 loss to Manchester City. They have been miserly in defence especially at home where they have only conceded one goal in their last four matches.

Newport County come into this match on the back of an excellent 2-0 win in the FA Cup against Colchester and will be hoping to make it two consecutive cup wins when they play Leicester. They are currently in 18th position in League Two but they are unbeaten in their last three league matches. Newport have only lost one of their last six matches across all competitions. They are seeking another higher league scalp in this competition after beating Portsmouth in the last round. Their recent away record has not been great as they have failed to win any of their last four matches.
