Leicester vs Manchester City Prediction & Betting Tips - Community Shield
by Daniel Ngulu | in Football Predictions
The big news from Manchester City regards the potential big money signing of Jack Grealish but that will be put aside momentarily as focus shifts to the Community Shield. Premier League champions Manchester City face FA Cup holders Leicester City in the season curtain raiser on Saturday. Leicester finally managed a win in their preseason activity beating Villarreal 3-2 at home but that win came at a very heavy cost as defender Wesley Fofana was stretchered off with what seemed a serious injury. The best news from the game though is that Harvey Barnes is back and he scored a wonderful goal. He could earn a start against City and Kasper Schemeichel is also back after the Euros and started the final preseason friendly. Fofana’s injury makes an already porous defence worse; the team has conceded six goals in the last three matches. They will however be happy with the attack, having scored six in the last two matches. They were poor finishers last season, losing their final two games and added to their preseason run, Leicester have only one win in the last six matches.
Manchester City will miss most of their stars in this game; some are off after a busy summer in the Euro 2020 and Copa America. Pep Guardiola is expected to blend first team players with U23s for this game as he preserves his best for the start of the league campaign in a week. The youthful Samuel Edozie has done well in preseason, scoring in each of their three wins while Riyad Mahrez has also scored three goals and the two have done enough for starting berths. It is highly doubtful players who featured in the Euro 2020 final will play a big part here but City have shown in preseason that they can cope for now without the stars. In three preseason matches, City have conceded just one goal and it came from a penalty, against Blackpool. They have scored 10 in the three matches and have shown signs of a very solid team again this coming season. Manchester City have four wins in their last five matches – the only loss in those five was in the Champions League final against Chelsea.

Our Leicester vs Manchester City Prediction
Leicester City haven’t had it smooth in preseason and though they managed to win in their final game, it wasn’t very convincing. They let go of a three-goal advantage to end it 3-2 against Villarreal and it was worse with Wesley Fofana suffering a bad injury. While Leicester have firepower in attack, they aren’t so good defensively, and City in the form they carry here, will punish them. Back City to win.
