High-flying Leicester City will look to start the year with another positive result when they face Huddersfield Town in the Championship on New Year’s Day. The hosts currently sit atop the league standings, while the visitors are 21st. Leicester have been a cut above the rest this season and look destined to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. They are currently on 62 points after 25 matches and have pulled eight points clear of Ipswich Town in second place. The Foxes secured a 2-0 win over Cardiff City on Friday night, marking their seventh win in their last ten matches, and was their ninth consecutive match without defeat. The last time they were beaten was at the start of November, away to Middlesbrough. The hosts are riding a four-match winning streak coming into this fixture and managed to keep three clean sheets during that time while scoring two or more in each of those matches. Leicester won the reverse fixture back in August and are the clear favourites in this one. 

Meanwhile, Huddersfield Town have struggled to put a solid run of results together this season. Their 25 points in as many games this season sees them sat as the first side above the drop zone, with just four points separating them from QPR, who are the first side below the dotted line. The Terriers suffered a 2-1 loss to Middlesbrough in their last match, which followed their sole win in their last seven league games against Blackburn Rovers. They are also winless in their last three away matches and have taken just 11 points from a possible 36 on the road this season. Goals have also proven hard to come by for the visitors as they have only managed 25 this term, which is the third-fewest of any side in the Championship. Huddersfield have failed to beat this opponent in their last five attempts and have been outscored 12-3 in that time.
