Leicester vs Cardiff Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship
by Devesh Jaganath | in Championship Predictions
Matchday three in the Championship will see promotion favourites Leicester City take on Cardiff City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The hosts are in second place in the league in the early stages, while the visitors are currently 17th. After an incredible nine seasons in the top flight, which included a fairytale league title in the 2015-16 season, Leicester were relegated last season and will continue their quest to return to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Cardiff, meanwhile, finished just above the dotted line in the Championship last term and are currently the joint-third-favorite to be relegated this season, according to the bookmakers.

Leicester - Cardiff: Form Analysis
The Foxes maintained their 100% win rate this season when they beat Huddersfield Town 1-0 last weekend. That win followed a 2-1 victory over Coventry City on the opening day and a 2-0 League Cup triumph over Burton Albion a few days later. Last season, they managed only 34 points in their 38 games and recorded just nine wins in that time, along with seven draws and 22 losses. Despite losing a few key players over the summer break, the hosts still have more than enough quality in their side and look a cut above the rest so far this season. They are strongly fancied to secure another three points in this one.
Cardiff have one of the most difficult opening runs of fixtures this season, including matches against two of last season’s Premier League relegated sides and QPR in their first three games. They got off to a promising start by holding Leeds United to a 2-2 draw on opening weekend but were beaten at home by QPR last week. Between those matches, Cardiff edged past League Two opposition Colchester United on penalties in the League Cup, and based on their performances in those matches, they are likely going to find it tough again this season. The visitors recorded 13 wins, ten draws, and 23 losses last season and were the second-lowest scoring team in the league with 41. Only Wigan had a worse tally (38).

Leicester & Cardiff Squad Analysis
Leicester have seen the departure of several first-team players in the transfer window, with the likes of James Maddison, Harvey Barnes, and Youri Tielemans all moving on to greener pastures. However, new signing Stephy Mavdidi has caught the eye for the Foxes, having opened his account for his new side last week. He will likely partner with fellow new arrival Harry Winks in midfield, with Wilfred Ndidi, and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall completing the Leicester engine room. Mads Hermansen will have to pass a late fitness test, having missed the last two matches while former Wolves defender Conor Coady is expected to be out until September with a foot injury.
Cardiff also underwent a bit of an overhaul in the summer, with the likes of Mark Harris, Gavin Whyte, and Sheyi Ojo all making their way out of the club. However, they have acquired the services of former Troyes forward Ike Ugbo, who has already bagged two goals in his first three matches for his new employers. He will likely continue in attack alongside Karlan Grant and Welsh international Aaron Ramsey, who arrived from Nice in the transfer window. Ryan Allsop is the only injury concern for the visitors, which should mean that Jak Alnwick will continue in goal.

Our Leicester vs Cardiff Prediction
Leicester are expected to earn promotion back to the Premier League this season and have begun their campaign very well. Much like Burnley last season, the Foxes have looked a cut above the rest so far, and against an opponent that barely survived the drop last term, we fancy the hosts to secure a comfortable victory in this one. They look like great value at odds of 1.5 and better. Our Leicester City vs Cardiff City prediction: Leicester City to win the match.
