Leicester City will commence their victory lap this weekend when they face Blackburn Rovers in the final match of the EFL Championship season on Saturday. The hosts have already been crowned champions, while the visitors are 19th. Leicester City will be heading straight back up to the Premier League at the first time of asking, having wrapped up the league with a game to spare. They enter this contest four points clear of Ipswich Town and secured the top spot last week, beating Preston North End 3-0 on the road. That result extended their current winning streak to three matches in a row, following victories over West Brom and fellow promotion hopefuls Southampton. The Foxes will end the season with the league’s best defensive record, having only conceded 39 goals in 45 matches. Leicester have proven formidable on home turf this season, boasting an impressive record of 17 wins, one draw, and only four losses in 22 Championship matches. They are now aiming to extend their current four-match winning streak at home, which began on April 1 against Norwich City. 

Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers experienced a major fall from grace this season and find themselves in a fight for survival on the final day. They are currently on 50 points after 45 matches, only three points ahead of Birmingham City, who are the first side below the dotted line. Sheffield Wednesday and Plymouth Argyle are in 20th and 21st place. Both Birmingham and Blackburn currently have the same goal difference (-16), meaning that if the Blues, Pilgrims and Owls win their matches, Rovers will be relegated this weekend. Blackburn come into this match off the back of a goalless draw at home to Coventry over the weekend, which followed what could prove a costly defeat against Wednesday a week earlier. In their league matches away from Ewood Park this season, Blackburn have secured seven wins, four draws, and 11 losses. They were beaten 4-1 by this opponent earlier in the season and are the clear underdogs in this one.
