Leeds plays host to Southampton at Elland Road in this Premiership encounter. The home team are in 16th position with 29 points while the visitors are in 11th position with 35 points. Leeds ended a dreadful run of six consecutive league defeats with victory in their last two matches. They were precariously close to the relegation zone before winning their last two matches. Leeds won their last home match 2-1 against relegation threatened Norwich City which ended a run of four home defeats. They are now seven points above the drop zone but have played an extra game. Leeds have only lost once in their last 13 home matches against Southampton with that loss coming in 1998. They have however lost seven of their 15 home matches this season which is their worst home record since the 2002/03 season when they lost nine home matches.

The international break could not have come at a better time for Southampton as they are on a three match losing streak. Prior to this they were five matches unbeaten in the league which included a draw against Manchester City. They have only won once in their last four away matches. Southampton are attempting to complete the league double over Leeds after winning the reverse fixture 1-0 in October. The last time they achieved this feat in top flight football was in the 1981/82 season. Southampton will be desperate to avoid losing four league matches in a row for the first time since January 2021 when they lost six in a row.
