Leeds vs Charlton Athletic Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Leeds United go into their final league game of the season as champions. They end their time in the Championship with a home game against 21st placed Charlton Athletic. United have taken 16 years to get back into the Premier League. They could never have imagined that when they did finally achieve that feat, there’d be no fans to see them. After both West Bromwich Albion on Friday, Leeds clinched promotion. A defeat for Brentford on Saturday gave them the title but the weekend still had more highlights for United. They went to Derby on Sunday and came from behind to win the game 3-1. That makes it five wins in a row for Leeds and they are more than capable of making it six with a win over Charlton Athletic.  Leeds have won six of their last seven home league games. The other was a 1-1 draw against Luton Town, the only side to score against Leeds at Elland Road in that set of games.

While Leeds are delighted that they won’t be in the Championship next season, Charlton are desperate to stay in this division. They begin this final game knowing a win will see them avoid relegation to League One. They could well survive due to the 12 point deduction being imposed on 13th placed Wigan. Losing those dozen points takes them down to 22nd and in the relegation zone, two points behind Charlton. Their final game is at home to promotion-chasing Fulham and only a win can save them from going down. A draw for Charlton would see them relegated if Wigan and Luton win. A loss at Elland Road will see them saved only if Wigan don't win and Luton lose to Blackburn. Charlton will be desperate for Luton and Wigan not to be winning, if as we expect they lose this game at Elland Road. Charlton have gone six league games without a win. Saturday saw them draw 2-2 at home to Wigan Athletic. They needed a 90th minute equalizer to get what could be a vital point. Only one of their last six away league games has ended in victory. That was a 1-0 win at Hull City who are in dreadful (really dreadful) form at present and on their way to League One. Only three goals have been scored by Charlton in their last six away league matches. They beat Leeds 1-0 at home in the reverse fixture but that was back in September when they were in much better form. United can win this match and be leading at both half and full time.
