Leeds United will start their journey in the Championship with a home game against Cardiff City on Sunday. Bidding for a straight return to the Premier League, Leeds United start this season among the title favourites. In January this year the two sides faced off in the FA Cup, and Leeds prevailed. Their most recent meeting ended in a 5-2 win for Leeds United. While they seek to avenge that, Cardiff will also want a strong start. They last faced Leeds United in 2020 in the Championship and won 2-0. Coming into this game, however, Cardiff aren't in a very strong position. Their only win in the last five matches came through post match penalties. In the last two matches of preseason, Cardiff failed to win. They drew with Wycombe Wanderers after an earlier 4-0 loss to Porto. Cardiff haven't scored in three of their last four matches and they have just one clean sheet in six games.
