Lazio enter the weekend as Serie A's form team, six points off the top of the table with a game in hand. They host Napoli at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday and if they manage to win, they will set a club record for ten successive top-flight victories. With nine in a row already, why should they fear anyone? Not even Juventus could daunt Lazio, the perennial Serie A champions falling to defeat in the Super Cup over the Christmas period. Presenting themselves as potential title challengers, Lazio have reserves of will that are the hallmark of any great champion. They never know when they're beaten and, with so many creative players in the side, never accept defeat. Immobile is having another incredible season with 19 goals in 17 Serie A games, topping the division's scoring charts. He's been able to fill his boots in part thanks to the accuracy of Luis Alberto, who has provided 11 assists, another division best.
Napoli can only dream of numbers like those this season. Unhappy with how the season started, they sacked Carlo Ancelotti and made the risky move of appointing Gennaro Gattuso as his successor. The former Milan boss has gotten off to a shaky start and watched his side lose 3-1 to Inter last weekend. It was a match littered with individual errors, a clear sign of a team low on confidence. They challenged for the title last season but Napoli are toiling this time around in eighth place and will struggle to make the European places. We expect Lazio to compound the misery of a team with one win in five Serie A games.
