A massive 17 points stand between the two sides, with Empoli on 18 and just a point above the red zone and they will have an uphill task here. It has not been a very good run for Lazio in the last 15 matches, winning just four but they have been improving lately. They recently eliminated Inter Milan from the Coppa Italia through post match penalties while an earlier win over Novarra makes it two wins for them in the last five matches and they have scored in each of their last five matches. They take on an Empoli side with one win in their last eight matches and five losses in the process. Empoli have four wins in Serie A, six lesser than Lazio’s tally after 22 matches for both sides. Along with bottom side Chievo, Empoli have conceded the most goals in the season, at 44 and it will be really tough for them here. Lazio have managed just two wins at home in the last seven Serie A matches, but still they will be favorites, as they play a side with very poor away from; Empoli have no win in the 10 away matches they have played in Serie A this year. They have also conceded at least two goals in each of the last six away league games. Lazio have beaten Empoli in each of the last four meetings and lost just twice in the last seven.
