In one of the biggest relegation battles of this weekend in the Bundesliga, Cologne plays host to Bochum. This matchday 28 at the RheinEnergie Stadium on Saturday will see the hosts 17th with 19 points and the visitors 15th with 26 points. Cologne are only a point behind Mainz in the relegation play-off place and seven behind their visitors, who are in the last safety place. With 21 more points to play for, this match could be of vital importance to both teams. Cologne are coming off a 1-1 draw with Augsburg, which extended their winless run to seven matches in the league. They have been alternating draws and losses in this sequence, but would be keen to avoid a defeat here. Bochum are unlikely to be confident of keeping a clean sheet, considering they have the second-worst defensive record in the division after conceding 56 goals. That’s more than two goals per game, and this hasn’t helped their recent away record, either. Bochum are winless in their last seven away league games, losing five.
