Kenya vs Mali Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Daniel Ngulu | in World Cup Predictions
Kenya’s six-game unbeaten run was crushed in a 5-0 loss to Mali in their last encounter in Group E of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The two nations will face off again in Nairobi, this time Kenya hosting and seeking their first win of the qualifiers. Kenya dropped to third place in the group after that loss, having managed just two points in the three games played. Meanwhile, Mali are top with seven points. Kenya have now failed to score in two of the three matches in this group, their only goal having come in the 1-1 draw with Rwanda. The only time they scored more than a goal in the last five matches was in the 2-1 away win in Togo. They have four clean sheets in five home matches in World Cup qualifiers, but these were against much weaker teams than Mali. All of the five home matches ended in under 2.5 goals.
Mali are set for a third meeting with Kenya, and having won the earlier two, they come here as favorites. They have eight goals in the two meetings with Kenya and have conceded just one goal. In this group, they are yet to concede a goal but those three clean sheets are all they have in the last five matches. The west African side walloped Kenya easily in the first meeting on Thursday and will look to extend the advantage at the top of the group on Sunday. Before their first meeting, Mali hadn’t scored a lot of goals in their matches; that was the second time they kept a clean sheet. Mali’s away run is also not the best; they have no win in five and failed to score in four. They also have just one win in 10 away matches in World Cup qualifiers – that came in eastern Africa, against Rwanda, and they will be hoping to make it two on their return to the region.

Our Kenya vs Mali Prediction
Mali are a class above Kenya, as seen in the two nations’ first meeting on Thursday. Four days later the two nations face off again and we don’t expect a lot of change. Kenya are goal shy, and after their loss in the first meeting, they will be keen on strengthening defensively but there’s all the indications they will struggle. Back Mali to win again.
