Kenya vs Comoros Prediction & Betting Tips - AFCON
by Daniel Ngulu | in Football Predictions
The African Cup of Nations qualifiers are back and it will be a busy period in the continent starting in midweek. Among the clashes lined up, Kenya will be hosting Comoros in Group G with both sides hoping to build on Match Day 2 draws. Heading to this game the two sides occupy the top slots in the group with Comoros top on four points and Kenya second on two. Having played at the last Cup of Nations finals, Kenya will be hoping for a second straight appearance in the next tournament. They opened their qualification campaign quite positively, away in Egypt where they came from a goal down to draw 1-1. They should have won the second game after impressing at home against Togo, but they allowed the west Africans back and it ended 1-1. That draw with Togo left Kenya winless in three straight AFCON qualification games and it will be tougher for them as most of their star players may not make it. Skipper Victor Wanyama is finding it hard reporting from his base in Canada while forward Michael Olunga is held in Japan by Covid-19 travel protocols. The two were also absent in October as the team beat Zambia 2-1 in an international friendly match and new coach Jacob Mulee will hope to have them even with the chances looking slim. One positive Kenya will focus on though, they have been doing well at home lately.
They haven’t lost at home in AFCON qualifiers in the last four matches, beating higher ranked Ghana and Congo as well as Ethiopia, before drawing with Togo. They are not the best in defence though, as the last six home matches have produced just two clean sheets for Kenya. These two sides are not entirely new to each other; they did meet in a friendly match in 2018 which ended 2-2. Earlier in 2014, in a two legged AFCON qualifier, Kenya won 1-0 at home and the teams drew 1-1 in Comoros. The visitors are seeking a first win over Kenya in the fourth ever meeting between the two nations. They opened their campaign impressively away in Togo, winning 1-0 and went on to hold Egypt to a 0-0 draw. That earned them a third straight clean sheet and unbeaten outing and Comoros, leading this group will know they have something to play for here. Minnows they are in African football but Comoros will fancy their chances here after an away win in Togo and a draw with a star studded Egypt. They also have two away wins, but that’s all they have managed in 13 away matches. In their last six away matches, Comoros haven’t managed more than one goal but they have three clean sheets in the process. They however have just one away win in 12 AFCON qualification matches, losing 10. In the 12 away AFCON qualification matches, they have one clean sheet and failed to score in nine.

Our Kenya vs Comoros Prediction
This will be the first of a double header of AFCON qualifiers between these two sides in Group G and the clash will be played behind closed doors. Kenya already tested themselves without fans in their win over Zambia in October and should have no problem here. They will also be banking on the good home run they have had in recent outings but the fact that they have no clean sheet in their group matches is a worry. Comoros on the other hand, have started well in the group and hope to extend the same here. However, their away record has been poor in AFCON qualifiers and they meet a team that does well at home. We are backing Comoros to score here, looking at Kenya’s defensive form, but we feel Kenya will register their first win in the group here. A 2-1 win for Kenya or over 2.5 goals can pass here.
