Kazakhstan - Northern Ireland: Form Analysis
Kazakhstan have racked up nine points in Group H after winning three of the five matches they have played. One of those victories was a 1-0 success away to Northern Ireland which was also the last time they won. Magomed Adiev’s charges bounced back from their opening round 2-1 loss to Slovenia to win their next three qualifiers. This run was ended last time out as they fell to a solitary goal at home to group leaders Finland. The Hawks now trail Finland by three points and are one point adrift of the qualifying places. They have a strong chance of qualifying from the group but if they can't, they can sneak in through the “back door”. Kazakhstan have a playoff spot in their grasp which was awarded to them after their Nations League success last season. The Eastern Europeans sealed promotion to League B and by doing so became one of 12 teams with a ticket for the playoffs.
Northern Ireland have their work cut out if they are to progress to next year’s continental showpiece in Germany. Michael O’Neil’s men sit second from bottom in Group H after managing just three points from their first five fixtures. The three points were earned away to bottom team San Marino on matchday one. Since that success, the Norn Irons have lost four straight qualifiers and have failed to score in three of those. Last time out, Ireland lost 4-2 away to Slovenia. Sunday’s visitors have managed only one win in their last six away matches. They have lost four times in this period. Their struggles make the search for a win here much more difficult. A fifth successive loss could leave them 10 points behind the top two going into the final four rounds of play.

Kazakhstan & Northern Ireland Squad Analysis
Abat Aymbetov scored the winner for Kazakhstan in the reverse fixture in Belfast. The Astana forward has scored twice already in these qualifiers and will be one of the dangermen against Northern Ireland. The others are Askhat Tagybergen and Bakhtiyar Zaynutdinov who have also scored twice in Group H.
Northern Ireland have managed only four goals in five qualifiers thus far. Two of those have been scored by Bolton Wanderers’ Dion Charles. The former Blackpool forward should again be preferred to lead the line here. Isaac Price, who scored Ireland’s first goal against Slovenia last time out, should assume his role right behind Charles. Veteran defender Jonny Evans has also scored in these qualifiers. His toughest task however will be to marshal the back four for a second clean sheet.
