Denmark will seek to maintain their winning start to Group H of the 2024 UEFA Euro Qualifiers when they travel to play Kazakhstan on Sunday in Astana. They defeated Finland 3-1 at home on Thursday in matchday one and now lead the group thanks to a superior goal difference. Kazakhstan are fourth in the group and are one of three teams to have lost their opening fixtures. Magomed Adiev’s men have lost all four previous meetings with Denmark and this makes Sunday’s task even more daunting considering their woeful run coming into the match. They succumbed 2-1 at home to Slovenia on Friday and have now lost four straight matches. To make things worse, The Hawks could be without the services of Marat Bystov after the defender was withdrawn with an injury with 10 minutes to go against Slovenia, Kazakhstan know there is another pathway to getting to the Euro finals, courtesy of their Nations League performance. They topped Group C3 of the competition and will be in the playoffs even if they fail to finish in the top two of these qualifiers.

Denmark made it to the semifinals of the last edition of the Euros and will target a return by finishing in the top two in this group. Kasper Hjulmand’s charges got off to the best of starts against Finland to indicate that they are well over their disappointing showing at the World Cup. Denmark exited the tournament at the group stage without a single win. They too will be without the services of defender Andreas Christiansen for this match who was withdrawn against Finland after just 18 minutes. This is a big blow but they will be hopeful that Rasmus Winther Hojlund continues with his explosive start to the group after scoring a hat trick last time out.
