The rebuild at Kariobangi Sharks has left them in a shaky state and their start to the 2022/23 Kenyan Premier League season hasn’t been the strongest. They will be hosting another struggling side Vihiga Bullets in their next league game, at the Kasarani Annex on Wednesday. Sharks go into this game having posted seven points, in 13th place while Vihiga United have managed just three points, and are 17th. Sharks are coming from yet another loss, falling 2-1 to high flying KCB in an error-prone game on Sunday. Another poor defensive show will leave coach William Muluya pondering on the changes to make in his backline, which has failed to keep a clean sheet in any of the seven games this season. In four of their opening seven matches, Kariobangi Sharks have conceded two or more goals, but they haven't failed to score in those games.

Vihiga Bullets’ topflight status was only saved by a court decision but from their performances so far, they were clearly not ready to stay up. They’ve played five matches so far, and lost four. Their only win in this run was against a struggling Nairobi City Stars side. They are coming from a 2-0 loss away to Bandari FC in Mombasa. The cash-strapped side will be making another long trip to Nairobi for this game, which will leave them even more jaded, days after making a public appeal for financial support. Poor as they are, surprisingly, Vihiga Bullets have only failed to score in one of their last five matches, and this is an area coach George Owoko will want to build on. They’ve however kept no clean sheets in the season so far, conceding two or more in all their five games.
