Juventus really should have clinched the title by now. After the latest set of fixtures, they still have a six point lead at the top with just five games to go and now host fourth placed Lazio. However, the league leaders have only earned two points from their last three games. That’s despite leading in two of those. They led 2-0 at AC Milan but lost 4-2, only their fourth league defeat of the season. Since then, Juventus have been held to a 2-2 home draw by in-form Atalanta. They needed a 90th minute Cristiano Ronaldo penalty to get that point. Wednesday saw them draw 3-3 at Sassuolo, despite leading 2-0 after just 12 minutes. They found themselves 3-2 down after 54 minutes before grabbing an equalizer. Juventus are unbeaten at home in Serie A this season with 14 wins and two draws. Only Lazio and Atalanta have scored more home league goals but Juventus have the best home defensive record.

Lazio will be kicking themselves as they make their way to Turin. They had been in fantastic form but Juventus just weren’t slipping up. The moment that the top-of-the-table side did start dropping points, so did Lazio. Their title hopes began to slide with a run of three consecutive defeats, two of them at home. The other was a 2-1 away defeat at Lecce who are currently in the relegation zone. They finally managed to end the losing run with a goalless draw at Udinese who are 15th in the table. Lazio had 15 shots on goal but only three were on target. They go into this game eight points behind Juventus with five matches remaining. A win in Turin would give them some hope but only one of their last four away games have been won. Recovering form and finishing second has to be their main aim but at least a Champions League spot looks assured. They are 12 points clear of Roma in fifth place. Juventus have home advantage and with Lazio struggling for form, they can get a vital home win.
