Japan W - Norway W: Form Analysis
Japan scored 11 goals across their three group matches and come here unbeaten in four. All their last four matches are wins and they came with clean sheets. In the four wins, they scored at least two goals in each. Hinata Miyazawa has four goals from their three group matches and Japan will be banking on her to extend this run. The Asian giants have only failed to win once in the last seven matches, that being a 1-0 loss to Denmark. In seven of their last 10 World Cup matches, Japan have emerged winners. They failed to score in just two of the said 10 games. In their only meeting with Norway at the World Cup, Japan suffered a heavy loss. They were thrashed 4-0 in the 1999 World Cup. It is highly unlikely that Japan can fall with that margin again in this competition. In the six meetings that followed, Japan regained dominance. They have beaten Norway five times in six.
Norway came to life late on in their group but did just enough to secure passage to this stage. They lost their opening game 1-0 to New Zealand before drawing 0-0 with Switzerland. In their third game however, they turned on the style, to beat the Philippines 6-0. The win over Philippines was their first in seven matches and second in 10. Four times in their last seven matches, Norway have failed to score, highlighting their struggles in attack. In three of their last four World Cup matches, Norway have failed to score. They will, however, take to this game two straight clean sheets in World Cup matches. Winners of the World Cup in the second edition (1995), Norway will not be happy at how things have gone thereafter. In their last 11 matches in the competition, they’ve managed just four outright wins. In one of their matches in that period, they won through post match penalties, beating Australia in 2019. Norway, with a poor run against Japan, will seek to redeem their image with a win.

Japan W & Norway W Squad Analysis
Japan had the comfort of resting players ahead of the third group game, having secured passage earlier. Going into this game, we expect that Yui Hasegawa will be recalled. Hana Takahashi., who was drafted in for the Spain win did well enough to keep her place. Hinata Miyazawa, one of the leading scorers at the tournament, is a definite starter.
Norway’s Sophie Haug was handed her first start at the competition in the last game. She went on to score three times in the win over Philippines, and is likely to keep her place.

Japan W vs Norway W - Other Interesting Predictions
Japan to score over 1.5 goals
Coming into this game, Japan have scored two or more goals in each of their last four matches. They will still be the favorites in this game, as they have been so far in the competition. After their 4-0 win over Spain, they will be energized for this game. Playing a side that has conceded two or more in two of the last five matches favors Japan. We are backing Japan to score over 1.5 goals here.
Japan to score opening goal
In all their last four matches, Japan have scored the opening goal. They have further gone on to win these matches, and are favored to win here too. Norway on the other hand have conceded the opening goal in three of their last five matches. Another good prediction for this game is for Japan to score the first goal.
