Japan vs Senegal Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Daniel Ngulu | in World Cup Predictions
For Senegal, it is just their second appearance at the World Cup, as they return for the first time since their debut in Japan/Korea 2002. They are the only African team to have picked a win at the tournament. Japan have been at the World Cup much longer; they made their debut in 1998 and have been in all the subsequent tournaments. Japan have played 18 World Cup games and won five, while Senegal have featured in six World Cup games so far, and won three, losing just one and scoring in five of the six. Heading to this clash, Japan have two wins and three losses in the last five matches, scoring seven but conceding nine. They have kept no clean sheet in the last eight matches and just one in 14 matches but they have scored in seven of their last 10 matches. In their last 10 World Cup matches, Japan have managed four clean sheets. Senegal on the other hand, buoyed by the fearless output against Poland, will be hoping to extend their winning run to three matches. They have managed two wins, a loss and two draws, scoring five and conceding three goals in the process. Senegal have five clean sheets in the last 10 matches and have scored in eight of the last 10 matches. This will be the first ever meeting between the two sides but Japan lost to West African side, Ghana, 2 – 0 in the build up to the World Cup while Senegal trounced South Korea by the same margin in their friendly match ahead of the tournament.

Our Japan vs Senegal Prediction
Japan have twice lost to West African opposition, the recent one against Ghana and in the 2014 World Cup against Ivory Coast but they will be hoping to build on earlier wins over Tunisia and Cameroon in the World Cup. Senegal on the other hand want to extend their good record at the World Cup. They have played six matches at the tournament and won three. They will however be banking a lot on their defensive discipline against the Asian side, having picked five clean sheets in the last 10 matches as opposed to Japan’s one in 14 matches. Both sides have however been prolific in attack – Senegal scoring averagely a goal a game in the last five and conceding 0.3 per game, while Japan have managed an average of 1.4 goals a game in the last five but conceded on average 1.8 in the same period. While both sides seem primed to score, a bet on Senegal outscoring Japan may work here.
