Italy vs San Marino Prediction & Betting Tips - International Friendlies
by Nella Wagah | in Football Predictions
Italy and San Marino have never met competitively; they have a fourth friendly meeting this Friday, with Italy hosting in Cagliari. The Italians, returning to a major competition in June after missing the 2018 World Cup, will be using this to prepare for Euro 2020. Ahead of the game, everything is going well for Italy. Manager Roberto Mancini has signed a new deal and the team is posting great results which have put it at the helm of their 2022 World Cup qualifying group and they also made it to the Nations League semi finals. The Italians go to this game on six straight wins and they haven’t conceded a goal in those, while they are unbeaten in 25 matches. Over the years, Italy have flourished in defence but now they are adding the attacking aspect to their game and to great effect; they’ve scored two or more in each of the last six matches. Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi has been a consistent scorer for Italy and is on the back of a great season in Serie A, having scored 17 goals. Torino’s Andrea Belotti (13 goals) and Lazio’s Ciro Immobile (20 goals) make it a very incisive forward line. In their last 26 home matches Italy are unbeaten and in the last five they’ve scored 15 goals and conceded just one.
San Marino are the lowest ranked football nation in the world, at position 210. They take on seventh placed Italy hoping to gain much from this clash. Going to their fourth ever meeting with Italy, they’ll be seeking their first goal against the former world champions. This friendly match was supposed to happen a year ago but was postponed and here they are. In the last meeting between the two nations, San Marino lost 8-0 and in each of the earlier two, they suffered 4-0 losses. They go to this game having not scored in 10 straight matches, and without a win in 51 matches. In the last five matches, they’ve conceded two or more goals in four and have avoided defeat in just one. Their most recent outing was against Albania in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, and like the earlier two qualifiers, they lost, though with a lesser margin – 2-0. In 53 away matches, San Marino have avoided defeat in just one, a 0-0 draw with Liechtenstein in October last year.

Our Italy vs San Marino Prediction
San Marino take to this game a very poor run and look all set for another loss. They face one of the in-form teams in the world at the moment and Italy, with all their top players called up, will have an easy run here. In their last five matches, Italy have scored 10 goals, five of which have come in the opening half so go for Italy to lead at half time. Italy have scored at least twice before half time in their previous two meetings with San Marino so a 2-0 lead at the break can be good as well.
