Italy and Poland are the top dogs in Group 1 of League A and a tough battle is expected in Italy when the two nations face off on Match Day 5 of the Nations League. Italy tops the group on seven points and Poland are second with six. The two sides had winning outings in friendly matches ahead of this game and either side will be hoping to be top of the group after this clash. The tight nature of this group may shake it up greatly should these sides draw. Italy are coming from a 4-0 win over Estonia in a friendly match, which handed them their 20th straight unbeaten outing, with 15 wins therein. They have won three of their last five matches and have four clean sheets therein. Since their loss to France at home in 2016, Italy have not suffered a home loss in 24 straight matches and have found their gloss back after missing the 2018 World Cup. They head here with seven clean sheets in 11 home matches and have scored in each of their last 10 home games. In the Nations League, Italy have some improvement to make though; they have two wins and four draws in the last six matches in the competition. They have never scored more than a goal in their eight Nations League matches, and in three they have failed to score completely. At home, they have failed to win any of their four Nations League matches – all have ended in draws.

Poland, on the other hand, are coming from a 2-0 win over Ukraine in a friendly and this is the form they will want to carry to Italy. Unbeaten in the last five matches, with four wins in there, they will feel confident enough to take on this challenge. They have three straight clean sheets and have scored 12 goals in the last five matches. The only time Poland failed to score in their last five matches, it was against Italy, a game that ended 0-0. Poland heads here unbeaten in the last three Nations League games with two wins therein and have failed to score in three of their eight Nations League games, just like Italy. Away from home, they have one win in four Nations League games and with no clean sheet in the four. While it has been a good run recently for the Poles, head to head form with Italy doesn’t favor them here, having won just one of their last seven meetings with Italy. They have also failed to score in five of the seven matches against Italy, while keeping just two clean sheets.
