Italy vs Bosnia Herzegovina Prediction & Betting Tips - International Friendlies
by Kennedy Kechula in Football Predictions
Italy’s final warm-up game before starting their European title defence will be at home to Bosnia-Herzegovina this Sunday. Heading into this encounter, Italy are seeking a sixth unbeaten outing, targeting a strong start to the European Championship. Luciano Spalletti is the man charged with emulating Roberto Mancini’s feat at the last euro finals. The Italy boss has had a strong start to his tenure, winning five and losing once in his opening nine games. A win in the 10th will definitely pump him up as Italy remain one of the favorites to win the 2024 competition. The task at hand is however an exhibition match against a team they beat three times in the last four meetings. Their loss to England in the Euro 2024 qualifiers is the only defeat Italy have endured in the last 10 matches. They head into this game straight from a 0-0 draw with Turkey. That result marked their third clean sheet in four matches, while they conceded just once in the four games. Over the past year, Italy have proven really solid at home, winning four of the last five matches they hosted.
Bosnia-Herzegovina aren’t coming into this game on a solid run. A 3-0 loss to England in their last outing marked their fifth straight defeat. They won’t be at the European Championship following their loss to Ukraine in the playoffs. However, they need to recover soon, to boost their preparations for the Nations League. Their loss in the last game might seem flattering for England, but Bosnia-Herzegovina actually did well defensively in most of it. All the three goals they conceded came in the second half, the final two in the last five minutes. That defeat was also the third time in five matches that they conceded three or more goals. Their poor run ahead of this game has Bosnia-Herzegovina on just three wins and two clean sheets in 13 matches. They failed to score in six of the last 11 matches as well. With such numbers, there’s no doubt Bosnia-Herzegovina are the underdogs here as it has been against Italy in recent meetings. In the last four meetings between these nations, Bosnia-Herzegovina have no win, and suffered three defeats.
