Defeat by Serbia in their last qualifier saw the Republic of Ireland slip to third in the group with two games remaining. They are five points behind the group leaders Serbia but only a point adrift of Wales who they play away in their final group match. Goals have been a problem for them so far in this group with only nine in eight games and five of those came in two matches. Four home games have produced five points which isn't bad considering they have only scored twice. Their last ten games have only seen them score more than once in a match on two occasions and one of those was in the 3-1 away win in Moldova. Ireland would probably settle for a last minute own goal to win 1-0, they simply have to get three points to set up that showdown in Cardiff next week. Moldova are bottom of the group with just two points earned in two draws with Georgia. They have scored four and conceded 20 and four away games have seen one goal scored and ten conceded. The last 33 games they have played have produced just two wins against mighty Andorra and San Marino. Ireland can get the three points but with a lack of goals just go for the -1 handicap.
