Ireland vs France Prediction & Betting Tips - Euro
by Steve Ashfield | in Euro Predictions
Ireland have a tough task in their opening Euro 2024 qualifying Group B fixture. They host World Cup runners-up France who got their campaign off to a storming start on Friday with a 4-0 home win over the Netherlands. That took them to the top of the group ahead of Greece who beat Gibraltar 3-0. Ireland missed out on qualifying for the last European Championships and will do well to make it to Germany last year. Like their opponents, their 2022/23 Nations League performance is unlikely to secure them a play-off position.

Ireland - France: Form Analysis
Ireland come into this game having won their last two matches. Both were friendlies with a 1-0 win in Malta last November followed by a 3-2 home win over Latvia last week. They led 2-0 in that game before being pegged back. Ogbene scored the winner but this is a far tougher match for them. Before those two wins Ireland had lost four of their last seven games. Not since 2010 has Ireland lost a home European Championship qualifier but that record looks under threat here.
France have won six of their last eight games. The other two were World cup losses to Tunisia (fielding a weakened line-up) and the final against Argentina via a penalty shootout. Mbappe will be looking for more goals after scoring five in his last two matches for France. The French side are unbeaten in their last eight Euro qualifiers with the last three on the road all being won to nil. France are unbeaten in their last seven international fixtures against Ireland, last losing to them in 1981.Limited Offer. Currently at DraftKings

Ireland & France Squad Analysis
Ireland may be without their captain Seamus Coleman for this game. He missed the win over Latvia and Monday may come too soon for the Everton defender. Josh Cullen and Jason Knight also didn’t play against Latvia but are expected to start this game. Gavin Bazunu may return as goalkeeper replacing Kelleher.
France don’t have Wesley Fofana or William Saliba in their squad, both withdrawing due to injury. There are no other injury worries so the bad news for Ireland they will be up against Mbappe and Muani. Olivier Giraud is likely to be on the bench, more bad news for the Irish.

Our Ireland vs France Prediction
Ireland may have had the upperhand on France in the Six Nations rugby championship but football tells a different tale. France will be all out to get a second group win. There was no World Cup final hangover when they beat the Netherlands 4-0 on Friday. Mbappe is in good scoring form and this looks like another three points for France. Ireland have had some recent wins in friendlies but are still inconsistent and it'll be a major blow if Coleman misses out. Our Ireland v France prediction is for an away win.
Ireland vs France - Other Interesting Predictions
France to win to nil.
Kylian Mbappe to score in the match.
