Ireland have a tough task in their opening Euro 2024 qualifying Group B fixture. They host World Cup runners-up France who got their campaign off to a storming start on Friday with a 4-0 home win over the Netherlands. That took them to the top of the group ahead of Greece who beat Gibraltar 3-0. Ireland missed out on qualifying for the last European Championships and will do well to make it to Germany last year. Like their opponents, their 2022/23 Nations League performance is unlikely to secure them a play-off position.

Ireland may be without their captain Seamus Coleman for this game. He missed the win over Latvia and Monday may come too soon for the Everton defender.
