The Republic of Ireland go into this final Group D match still in with a chance of gaining automatic qualification for the finals. They are three points behind leaders Denmark but could finish above them if winning this match. Ireland are two points behind second placed Switzerland who travel to Gibraltar and should be able to get three points from that game. Ireland have only lost one of their seven group games, that was 1-0 away in Denmark. Not scoring an away goal might not help Ireland and a two goal win will be needed. They are guaranteed a play-off position though but don't have a great record against Denmark who ended their 2018 World Cup qualification hopes by beating them in the play-offs.
