Ireland will seek to confirm their stay in League B when they host Bulgaria in the Nations League play-offs this Sunday. Going into the return leg match, Ireland have the advantage, leading 2-1 from the Thursday meeting. Bookies’ predictions favor the hosts to prevail here.
Ireland have never played outside League B, a state that was threatened by their third placed finish in Group B2. However, goals from Finn Azaz and Matt Doherty completed their comeback in Bulgaria and they are in the driving seat here.
Their third win in five matches was a great improvement from their earlier 5-0 loss to England. Now they’ll seek to improve on a run of two wins in nine home matches.
