Iraq will seek to confirm top spot in Group D when they take on Vietnam next at the AFC Asia Cup. Vietnam haven’t won any of their last five meetings with Iraq. They have lost four times in this stretch and two of those defeats have come in this competition. The Golden Star Warriors will hope to not suffer the same fate in this latest meeting. Vietnam have already been eliminated from the competition. This is the first time that they have suffered this fate in what is their third appearance as present-day Vietnam. Phillipe Troussier, who have lost both matches they have so far played, will seek to bow out on a high. Vietnam were defeated 1-0 last time out by Indonesia. It was an improvement of some sort as their tournament opener against Japan had seen them concede four. Securing wins has been a difficult task for the Southeast Asia nation as they have managed just one win in eight outings. The other seven games have all ended in defeat.
