Iran vs Spain Prediction & Betting Tips - World Cup
by Daniel Ngulu | in World Cup Predictions
There is a general feel that Iran will not last too long at the top of the log, if at all they won’t improve on their display against Morocco. Though the Iranians won and kept a clean sheet, it was clear they survived by bluntness in the Morocco goal and not by their defensive prowess. Spain brings on board a different kind of game; a ruthless and very prolific attack and perhaps Carlos Queiroz, having experience coaching in Spain, would know just the strategy for this game which threatens to tear Iran apart. Diego Costa netted two goals for Spain in the 3 – 3 draw and for an Iran side that had to win through an own goal, they have a whole lot of homework to do for this game, on whether to concentrate on strengthening defensively or sharpening the attack; a draw would be good for them but then Spain with all their firepower, will not be too keen on that. Iran lost to Turkey in the pretournament friendly matches and canceled two friendly matches before taking on Lithuania ahead of the World Cup and their ill preparedness was visible in the match against Morocco. They have scored a goal in each of their last four matches, though the opposition in all the four, one of which was a loss, can’t be compared to what Spain stands to offer. Spain have not won in their opening matches in the last two World Cup tournaments, and they lost the opening two in Brazil 2014, exiting at the group stage. The former World champions meet an Iran side that has never beaten a European side at the World Cup and the win over Morocco was just their second in the 13 World Cup matches they’ve ever played. Iran have five clean sheets in the last 10 matches but meet a Spain team that has scored in 24 of the last 25 matches, and with just two losses in 25 and unbeaten in 21 matches. Spain have not been the best defensively, keeping just one clean sheet in six matches. They however carry a much superior form at the World Cup compared to Iran, with seven wins in the last 10 World Cup matches, and just five losses in the last 18 World Cup games. This will be the first meeting ever between the two.

Our Iran vs Spain Prediction
Iran may decide to sit back and soak the pressure hoping for counter attacks in this game, but just as opening up, sitting back may as well be a poor strategy for them, going by Spain’s brand of football and quality. Iran have scored not more than a goal in the last four games, playing against very inferior opposition compared to Spain and meeting a side that is unbeaten in 21, and has scored in 24 of the last 25 matches is not going to be easy for them. A win for Spain here is guaranteed but more interesting bets can be placed on Diego Costa scoring any time as well as this game ending with over 2.5 goals.
