Ipswich Town vs Sunderland Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

Second placed Ipswich Town bid to get back into winning ways in the Championship. The Tractor Boys host Sunderland who are sixth in the table and occupy the final promotion play-off position. Ipswich won 3-1 away at AFC Wimbledon in the FA Cup third round but have gone five league games without a victory. Their last three Championship fixtures have all ended in draws, the last two being goalless. That's left them ten points behind leaders Leicester City but still in the second and final automatic promotion place but only three points clear of Southampton who play earlier in the afternoon. A home win over Sheffield Wednesday will see them climb up into second spot. Ipswich have won nine of their 13 home league games but drawn the last three. The last two both had under 2.5 goals scored in them.

Sunderland could find themselves out of the top six if Hull City beat Norwich City the day before this game. The play-offs look to be the only way Sunderland can win promotion as they are 15 points behind second place. They lost in the FA Cup last weekend, going down 3-0 at home to local rivals Newcastle United. Sunderland had been unbeaten in their last three games before that loss to the Premier League side. Away form in the Championship is not good at present with only one win in their last eight. Six of their last six league fixtures have had under 2.5 goals scored in them and the last seven on the road. Not surprisingly, we go for under 2.5 goals to be scored in this match.
