Ipswich Town vs Stoke Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship

After winning starts to their respective Championship campaigns, Ipswich Town and Stoke City clash this weekend looking to build momentum. This matchday two will be played at the Portman Road with both teams on three points after one match. Ipswich marked their return to Championship football with a 2-1 win over 10-man Sunderland. Goals on either side of the break helped the Tractor Boys although Sunderland pulled one goal back late in the game. They followed it up with a 2-0 win in the Carabao Cup over Bristol Rovers to move into the second round. All eyes will be on the Portman Road though, as they look to make a smooth transition to second-tier football. It was their superior home form that led Ipswich’s charge to promotion last year. They are unbeaten across 18 competitive home matches and will hope to replicate that here.

Stoke will be a difficult opponent though, as Ipswich failed to win across eight head-to-heads since their last win in December 2004. The visitors are coming off a winning start themselves, dispatching Rotherham United 4-1 emphatically on matchday one. The Potters raced to a 3-0 lead in the first-half and never gave a chance to Rotherham, despite an early goal conceded in the second-half. The subsequent 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion in the Carabao Cup suggests that Stoke are up and running in this campaign. They would be keen to continue that run and address their indifferent away form which was a concern last season. Stoke finished last league campaign with only three wins across their last 11 Championship away matches – drawing and losing four games each.
