Ipswich will be desperate to halt their sliding fortunes when they come up against a relegation-threatened Queens Park Rangers. This Championship matchday 25 will be played at the Portman Road on Friday with the hosts 2nd on 53 points and the visitors 22nd on 20 points. Ipswich are six points behind leaders Leicester and five ahead of third-placed Southampton. As such, they are guaranteed to stay second whatever may be the result of this match. Yet, they would be keen for it to be a win, as they have lost some momentum in recent times. Two draws and a loss across three league games has seen them lose a chance to close the gap on leaders Leicester. At least they have been unbeaten at home in the league across the last ten games which plays to their advantage – eight wins and two draws.

QPR are also guaranteed to finish the round in 20th spot whatever may be the result as they are five points behind safety and four above the teams sitting below. Yet, they would be desperate for this to be a win so that they can get some life into their relegation battle. More so as they come here on the back of three straight defeats – the last two coming to nil. It has been an unsavoury experience for the Rangers’ fans on the road this season, as they struggled throughout. QPR have lost six of their last eight away league games, with only one win in that sequence. That win though, came against top-10 side Preston, giving them a ray of hope that they can upset the calculations of Ipswich.
