Ipswich Town vs Preston North End Prediction & Betting Tips - Championship
by Devesh Jaganath | in Championship Predictions
Arguably the pick of the matches in the Championship this weekend will see Ipswich Town playing host to Preston North End on Saturday. Both sides have made very strong starts to the 2023-24 Championship season. The hosts are currently in second place with 25 points, while the visitors are just one spot below them with 20 points. It has been a dream return to the second division for The Blues so far, but can they keep their incredible run of form going?

Ipswich Town - Preston North End: Form Analysis
Fair to say, Ipswich Town have adapted to life back in the Championship excellently. After losing their first match of the season 4-3 to Leeds, The Blues have been unstoppable. They come into this match fresh off a 3-0 win over Hull City in midweek, which extended their record to six matches unbeaten. During that time, they only dropped two points, drawing 1-1 against Huddersfield Town. The most impressive part about The Blues’ performances this season has been their attacking output. They have already smashed in 21 goals in ten games, which is the same tally as league leaders Leicester City have recorded. The hosts are on a three-match winning streak at home and are the clear favourites in this one.
Meanwhile, Preston North End also made an excellent start to the season. They were unbeaten after the first eight matches, winning six and drawing just two. However, they come into this one following back-to-back defeats against West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City in midweek. While losing to those sides are not the worst outcome, the visitors will be concerned that they failed to score a single goal in those matches but conceded seven. The Lilywhites have been much better at home than on the road this season. In five away matches, they have won two, drawn two, and lost one, while at home, they have won four of five. A win for the visitors here will cut the gap to their opponents to just two points.

Ipswich Town & Preston North End Squad Analysis
Nathan Broadhead has missed the last two matches for Ipswich with a thigh problem but could return to the squad for this match. Lee Evans has been flagged as a doubt due to a knee problem and could miss the next few weeks as well. Samy Morsy will be eligible for selection, having served his one-match suspension for accumulation of yellow cards.
Preston have three players that will be sidelined for this match with injuries. Calvin Ramsey is ruled out with a knock to his knee, and Ched Evans is out with a back injury. Both players are back in training but will likely need a few more weeks until they return to full fitness. Emil Riis Jakobsen has yet to feature this season due to an ACL injury and is expected to remain on the treatment table for at least another month.
