Ipswich Town - Plymouth: Form Analysis
Ipswich have made quite a splash in their return to the Championship. They come into this match off the back of a 1-0 win over Bristol City, which followed a 4-2 win over Preston North End before the international break. With those results, The Tractor Boys are now on a three-match winning streak and have not been beaten in their last ten matches in all competitions. The only loss they suffered in 15 matches this season came in gameweek three when they were narrowly beaten by Leeds United. Ipswich have been prolific this term, recording 26 goals in their 12 games, just one short of the Foxes. They have also scored two or more goals in each of their last seven home games and are riding a five-match win streak on home soil. As a result, the bookmakers make them strong favourites to claim the points in this one.
Meanwhile, Plymouth Argyle secured a much-needed win in midweek. They beat Sheffield Wednesday 3-0 at home to snap up a four-game winless run that included two draws and two defeats. With that result, the visitors moved six points clear of the drop zone and are three points behind the top half of the table. However, all indicators suggest that they are going to struggle in this one. Not only are The Pilgrims going up against one of the most in-form sides in the league, but they have also failed to win a single of their away league matches this season. In six away games, the visitors have lost three and drawn three, conceding nine and scoring just four in that time. The last time they won a league match on the road was at the start of April this year.
